How to practise Dutch vocabulary with Word Commando
Start with a short session you can finish. There is always another mission when you want one.
Pick a manageable set of words
Open Mission, choose a sector and start with Dutch → English. A 20-word mission is a useful first round.
Find the matching translation
Read or listen to the command, then aim at the correct answer. Enable sound with the speaker button for spoken words and music.
Review, then change the challenge
Return for words that need another look. Try English → Dutch, listening commands or a different difficulty when you want more variety.

Questions about learning Dutch through the game
Is this for English speakers learning Dutch?
Yes. The interface and explanations are in English, with Dutch and English vocabulary pairs. Practise both directions, with separate learning progress for each.
Does Word Commando replace a complete Dutch course?
It is a vocabulary supplement. Use it alongside lessons and everyday practice for grammar, sentence building, conversation and language in context.
Can I practise Dutch listening and noun articles?
Choose spoken commands to practise recognising Dutch words by ear. Dutch nouns include their articles; purple highlights mark het words in the game. You can also choose bonus practice for pronouns, articles and selected present-tense verbs.
How can I build Dutch vocabulary quickly?
Practise a small set regularly, revisit mistakes and test yourself in both translation directions. Use spoken commands as well as written words, and connect new vocabulary to sentences in your course. Word Commando provides short missions and scheduled review to support that routine; your pace depends on your starting point and practice.
Do I need an account or a download?
You can start as a guest in your browser. Guest progress stays in that browser; an optional account syncs progress across devices. There is no app installation required. The game is in beta, and saved progress may reset during development.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Use touch controls and turn your phone sideways for missions. On a computer, use the mouse or enable keyboard gameplay in Controls. Choose short sessions and a comfortable pace for your screen.
